Irene M. Hansen

Irene M. Hansen, 97, of Cumberland passed peacefully, October 7, 2019 at Care and Rehab-Cumberland. She was married in Lindstrom, MN on May 11, 1942 to Arnold E. “Chuck” Hansen who preceded her in death on February 11, 2013.
Irene worked at Pioneer Home in Luck, and retired in 1985. She enjoyed spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens, watching and feeding the birds by the lake, and working on crossword puzzles. Irene was a talented seamstress.
Arnold and Irene went on many grand adventures in Alaska and throughout the west. They had a special love for the mountains. Irene was greatly blessed to spend her life with her family and friends at her beloved home on Grenquist Lake in McKinley Township.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Lori Hansen of New Richmond, son Tom (Cathy) Hansen of Rice Lake; son-in-law, John Vernon of Victoria, BC; six grandchildren, Heather Hansen, Josh (Kim) Kluge, Andrea Hansen, Ryan (Mary) Hansen, Johnny (Megan) Vernon and Kristen (Sean) Gabriel; seven great grandchildren, Lucas, Simon and Jane Hansen; Charlie, Anna, and Maddy Kluge; and Daniel Hansen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Hansen; daughter, Raedean Vernon; and her siblings.
A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in McKinley at 11 AM on November 9, 2019 with Rev. Diane House officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM the day of the service.
