Soccer Team Has Successful Week; Start Tournaments Next Tuesday

The Cumberland Soccer team went 1-0-1 last week as it moved towards the end of the regular season. The teams record sits at 6-6-1 with games against Washburn-Bayfield and Osceola left to play. The regular season finale will be at Endeavor Stadium this Thursday at 7:00 pm against the Chieftans. Tournaments start next Tuesday at a place to still be determined. Seeding are on Wednesday night.
The Beavers started the week with a 2-2 tie on Parent’s Night last Tuesday. Erik Sandman and Lukas Bruehl did the honors for Cumberland.
Thursday, the team traveled to Hayward where they came away with a 5-3 victory. Sandman had two more goals, his 17th and 18th of the season, while getting additional help scoring from Bruehl, Kevin Koser, and brother, Ethan Sandman. “We have had a nice season and hope to finish up with two more victories this week,” said Coach Larry Ruetz.
